Capacity on Demand (CoD)

CoD

IBM's licensing model that lets a Power server ship with more processor or memory capacity installed than activated, with additional capacity unlocked temporarily or permanently as needed.

Capacity on Demand lets a Power server physically contain more processor cores or memory than are actively licensed for use, with additional capacity activated on demand. IBM has offered CoD in some form across Power5, Power6, and every generation since.
