Power Systems

The unified IBM server brand created in April 2008 when System i and System p, previously separate product lines, merged on the POWER6 processor generation.

Power Systems is the name IBM has used for its Power-processor-based server line since April 2008. Before that date, IBM sold System i (IBM i / OS400 focused) and System p (AIX/Linux focused) as separately branded and marketed lines on the same processor family. The unification happened on the POWER6 generation.
